The Law of Repulsion?

Is the Law of Attraction really the Law of Repulsion?

Anyone who has read any of my writings on The Secret, will know I am very much against what has been promoted as ‘instant manifestation’ and ‘cosmic ordering’ through some purveyors of The Law of Attraction.

The idea that we can abdicate personal responsibility to the Universe which will provide us with what we desire, is not only offensively materialistic but egocentric to say the least.

The oversimplification of spiritual ideas which led to the idea that we could treat the Cosmos as some kind of Amazon or Wallmart has proven to be the pot of gold some writers have uncovered and continue to mine.

It doesn’t matter if you do not ever come to have a thorough understanding of the quantum physics behind the Law of Attraction.

We’re on very shaky ground when we invoke Quantum Physics to ‘prove’ spiritual ideas, especially if you’re not in a position to understand the mathematical constructs that underpin this area of science.

Not matter, some writers maintain a very naïve opinion of the nature of the Universe

Be happy, for the universe is always on our side…

Really?

I guess it’s all a matter of perspective. Surely the chaotic-creative nature of the Universe is generally ambivalent to what we, as human beings, think, feel or want.

The Law of Attraction is the most powerful law in the universe. Just like gravity, it is always in effect, always in motion.

Jack Canfield

The difference between the Law of Gravity and the Law of Attraction is that the former is a set of predictions which have been tested and supported by innumerable independent observations and experiments.

The Law of Attraction is a concept not open to such ‘testing’ and reports of its working could be considered as being selected to ‘prove’ the point. What is more insidious is the fact that when we do hear of reports of the Law not working it’s invariably because the individual just didn’t try or believe hard enough. Something that the Law of Gravity is not susceptible too.
